Information
B.Burcak Basbug is currently an instructor at the Middle East Technical University
(METU) Department of Statistics. She obtained her BSc. degree (1999) at METU Department of Statistics. She received her MSc. degree (2001) in Statistics at
Warwick University and Ph.D (2006) at the London School of Economics Department of Statistics in the United Kingdom.
She is the director of the METU Disaster Management Implementation and Research Center since September 2008 onwards. She is the director of the On-Line Natural Disaster Risk Management courses offered in Turkey. She is the Chair of the Actuarial Sciences Program at the Institute of Applied Mathematics (IAM) and affiliated faculty of the the Geodetic and Geographic Information Technologies (GGIT) at METU.
Her main research interests are: Disaster Risk Management, Extreme Value Theory,
Disaster Economics, Natural Disaster Insurance, the Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool and Actuarial Analysis.
